It's time to glow at this after-dark scavenger hunt in Switchyard Park on Sept. 16, 7:30-10:30 p.m. Volunteers 16 years and older are needed to assist in setting up puzzles and handing out prizes. Volunteers younger than age 18 must have an Underage Waiver of Liability signed by a parent or guardian and must bring it with them when they arrive for their shift. One of Indiana’s oldest and largest 5K run/walk events is happening on Sept. 24. Volunteers are needed to support the runners and participants in this year's event. Shifts include team packet prep and pick up on Sept. 19-21, race registration on Sept. 23, and race-day support on Sept. 24. Proceeds from Hoosiers Outrun Cancer (HOC) directly support members of our local community impacted by cancer, including patients, their families, caregivers and friends. Area 10 Agency on Aging’s annual Safe at Home Event focuses on improving home safety for older residents in Monroe and Owen counties. Volunteers are needed 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Oct. 1. “Nonskilled” individuals are needed for cleaning gutters and pulling weeds (need knowledge of weed vs. plant). Skilled individuals are needed for caulking around exterior windows (first story), replacing deck board on stair treads, rehanging stair risers, screwing down deck board and replacing a storm door on a mobile home. The annual Lotus World Music and Arts Festival celebrates its 29th year of diversity, beauty and music from cultures around the world. Hundreds of volunteers are needed to make this festival possible by working in a wide variety of roles.
