Not all heroes wear capes, some wear Chick-fil-A chef aprons.

One young lad has become an overnight national hero after he took down an alleged carjacker using some slick mixed martial arts moves.

The Chick-fil-A employee has now been identified as Mykel Gordon.

According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, 43-year-old William Branch stormed into the Chick-fil-A store and grabbed a woman's car keys while she was holding a baby.

The robber then tried to steal the woman's car – that was until a chicken shop worker bravely intervened.

In reference to the FWB Chick-fil-A employee who ran to help a woman with a baby who was being carjacked, we want to say a sincere thank you to Ms. Kelner for providing video of a portion of the encounter. Upon seeing the carjacking attempt, Chick-fil-A employee Mykel Gordon sprung into action and chased the thief around the carpark before taking him down with a perfectly-timed tackle.

As the carjacker tried scrambled to flee himself, Gordon sunk in a deep guillotine choke, the sort of expert submission we're used to seeing from UFC champion Charles Oliveira.

We're not entirely certain whether Gordon has any background in jiu-jitsu, although it certainly looks like he does.

Local law enforcement later arrived on the scene and arrested Branch, who now sits behind bars facing criminal charges of carjacking with a weapon and battery.

"A major shout-out to this young man for his courage," police said in a statement.

Footage of the wild incident was posted on social media by the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Department and it didn't take long for it to go viral online as people heaped praise on the young Chick-fil-A employee.

While many viewers applauded him for his sheer bravery, others pointed out how talented his grappling skills were, some even urging him to take up MMA for good.
