The Santa Barbara South Coast Chamber of Commerce announces the return of The Goleta Lemon Festival, presented by Rusty’s Pizza, Sept. 24-25 at Girsh Park in Goleta.

The Goleta Lemon Festival hosts 80-plus booths featuring local nonprofit organizations, lemony foods and beverages, lemon accessories, hats and souvenirs.   With the Goleta Lemon Festival, the South Coast celebrates the rich history and role lemon harvesting has in the region. What started as a small street festival in 1949 celebrating Goleta’s agricultural roots, has grown to attract more than 40,000 residents, visitors, community leaders, and nonprofits celebrating the community. The festival has been Goleta’s largest community event of the year for 29 years.   Visitors can indulge at the Community West Bank Food Court with treats like lemonade, lemon tacos, lemon cotton candy and Rusty’s pizza. To slake a thirst, there is the Signature Flight Support Lemon Lounge for a lemon ale and local wines.

Keep up with Noozhawk's daily COVID-19 coverage, delivered at 4:15 a.m. right to your inbox.

Festival goers can enjoy live entertainment from the American Riviera Main Stage in a variety of musical styles, including rock, country, blues, and R&B. The headliner will be Area 51.

An all-inclusive activity wristband is the ticket for visitors to enjoy endless rides and games, including archery tag, inflatable bubbles, and obstacle courses at the Santa Barbara Airport Kids Zone. Pre-purchase an activity wristband for a $5 savings at LemonFestival.com.

The festival also features the largest interactive display of Fire, Police, and Emergency Services in the county at the ExxonMobile Safety Street where you can meet the people who help keep us safe and get an up-close look at their state-of-the-art vehicles and technologies.   On Saturday, the festival will feature the 15th Annual Goleta Fall Classic Car Show, presented by The Point Market, showcasing a variety of cool classic cars ranging from Corvettes and Camaros to trucks and pick-ups along with motorcycles and bicycles.

The festival could not happen without the many volunteers, ages 14 and up, who spend time planning the festival and lending a helping hand over the weekend. Applications for volunteers are now being accepted, visit LemonFestival.com for volunteer opportunities.   The Goleta Lemon Festival is organized by the Santa Barbara South Coast Chamber of Commerce, from Goleta to Carpinteria. The festival celebrates Goleta’s heritage as a preeminent lemon-growing region and honoring the first commercial planting of lemon trees in California in 1875.   The Goleta Lemon Festival times are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25. Welcome to Noozhawk Asks, a new feature in which you ask the questions, you help decide what Noozhawk investigates, and you work with us to find the answers.

Here’s how it works: You share your questions with us in the nearby box. In some cases, we may work with you to find the answers. In others, we may ask you to vote on your top choices to help us narrow the scope. And we’ll be regularly asking you for your feedback on a specific issue or topic.

We also expect to work together with the reader who asked the winning questions to find the answer together. Noozhawk’s objective is to come at questions from a place of curiosity and openness, and we believe a transparent collaboration is the key to achieve it.

The results of our investigation will be published here in this Noozhawk Asks section. Once or twice a month, we plan to do a review of what was asked and answered.
