The event already had storms to deal with Thursday night as campers moved in. More storms are in the forecast later in the weekend.

Here’s the forecast, per the National Weather Service:

Earlier this year, Faster Horses announced it would require attendees to either show proof of vaccination or proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test.

The festival has since changed direction: There will be no COVID requirements of any kind at the event.

Faster Horses 2021 resulted in at least 111 known cases of COVID, including 94 people who attended the festival and 17 of their contacts, per the state health department.

One of the secondary cases required hospitalization. There were no COVID deaths traced to the festival.

All of the following are prohibited at the Faster Horses festival site (where the concerts are):

Small bags, backpacks and fanny packs are allowed, as long as they’re clear and 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches, or smaller. Camelbaks 1.5 liters or smaller and clutch purses/wallets 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches or smaller don’t need to be clear.

Faster Horses is mostly cashless. People can pay with credit/debit cards, Apple/Google Pay or sign up to have their wristband connected to their card and can pay for items with that. People can register their wristband at guest services.

Attendees can exchange cash inside the venue for a prepaid card if they only have cash.

Campgrounds may still allow cash transactions.

An MLive investigation into police reports from Faster Horses uncovered 91 assault reports, 30 criminal sexual conduct reports and six deaths from the festival’s eight years. Subsequently, the outlet was denied media credentials to cover this year’s event.

Attendees recommend to stay in groups and never travel alone, keep your phone charged and make friends with those in neighboring campsites.

Faster Horses is also offering generator safety tips on its website after three young men died from carbon monoxide poisoning at the 2021 festival.

The event website reminds people to bring a functioning carbon monoxide detector and fire detector. Generators should be outdoors, far from any structure. People should pipe up internal generators to reduce noise and divert exhaust fumes above the camper and away from neighbors. Free-standing generators can use a muffle box to reduce noise and direct exhaust away.
