Commanders quarterback Carson Wentz faces a pliable Lions defense on Sunday.

The Thursday night showdown between the Los Angeles Chargers at the Kansas City Chiefs highlights the Week 2 NFL slate, as FrontPageBets GM/Content Director Mike Szvetitz makes his picks and predictions.

We can hear you from here.

Your team limped out of the gate in the season opener, tripped up by significant injuries and underwhelming performances.

Trust us, you are not alone. And that in itself is part of the problem, since all the other owners in your league are turning over rocks on the waiver wire, too.

First things first. San Francisco 49ers running back Jeffrey Wilson Jr. should be a priority addition on the heels of teammate Elijah Mitchell spraining the MCL in his right knee during the season opener. Mitchell was placed on injured reserve by the 49ers, who have unproven commodities in the backfield outside of hybrid wideout Deebo Samuel and elusive quarterback Trey Lance.

Wilson recorded nine carries -- albeit for just 22 yards -- in relief of Mitchell in the 49ers' 19-10 loss to the Chicago Bears last Sunday in less-than-ideal weather conditions. He would be in line for more work against a Seattle Seahawks team that allowed 5.2 yards per carry to the Denver Broncos' rushing attack on Monday.

For those Dak Prescott owners in need of help, we'll suggest adding either Washington Commanders quarterback Carson Wentz or Indianapolis Colts QB Matt Ryan. The immediate favorable fantasy schedules of both Wentz and Ryan should provide some solace with the Dallas Cowboys quarterback on the mend following surgery on his thumb.

Should you be looking to boost to your depth at wide receiver, please consider Donovan Peoples-Jones (Cleveland Browns) or Robbie Anderson (Carolina Panthers). Peoples-Jones saw 11 targets in the season opener on a team that "boasts" offseason acquisition Amari Cooper as its No. 1 wideout, while Anderson joined fellow receiver D.J. Moore in being on the field for all 53 of his team's offensive plays last week.

If the availability of 49ers tight end George Kittle (groin) is giving you fits, please consider adding either Hayden Hurst of the Cincinnati Bengals. Hurst could see additional targets against Dallas with Tee Higgins' availability in question due to a concussion.

FrontPageBets looks at players to sit and start as the NFL moves forward.

Look, we are going to bypass the low-hanging fruit when it comes to starting studs, so don't get cute in regard to talent such as the Buffalo Bills' Josh Allen. You got him? Start him.

So, outside of the obvious, let's shine some light on Wentz. The Commanders quarterback threw for 313 yards and four touchdowns in the season opener and faces a Detroit Lions' defense that was carved up by Wentz's initial NFL team in the Philadelphia Eagles.

Also, expect Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford and Las Vegas Raiders QB Derek Carr to rebound from tough season openers against the Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals, respectively.

On the flipside, don't be so quick to usher Tom Brady into your starting lineup. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's the G.O.A.T. and a first-ballot Hall of Famer. That's all well and good, but the New Orleans Saints have kept him under 240 yards in three of his four meetings since joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

With injury concerns to a bevy of running backs -- Saints star Alvin Kamara (ribs) and Pittsburgh Steelers workhorse Najee Harris (foot), for example -- one may need to roll the dice at that position this week.

Rams running back Darrell Henderson should be in your starting lineup against a generous Falcons defense. As a side note, if you selected Henderson's teammate Cam Akers with a relatively early-round draft pick, we feel your pain.

Feel free to start either Aaron Jones or A.J. Dillon in the Green Bay Packers' backfield (against the Chicago Bears), however keep Raiders running back Josh Jacobs parked on the bench.

Terry McLaurin isn't the only Washington wideout who should be in your starting lineup. Curtis Samuel caught eight of his 11 targets and found the end zone last week.

Buffalo's Gabe Davis is an every-week starter going forward. Sure, there are many options at Allen's disposal. But Davis played all but one offensive snap last week and should see more targets.

Temper expectations in regard to CeeDee Lamb given Dallas' quarterback situation.

Rams tight end Tyler Higbee is worth a look this week after he received a whopping 11 targets in the opener. Los Angeles isn't expected to be playing from behind against Atlanta.

But Higbee has a rapport with Stafford that offseason acquisition Allen Robinson does not.
